Anvelink,Fieber, and Whitman Earn First Wins of Year

Shawano,WI,6/20/2009--Eighty-three racers signed in to do battle on the half mile oval at the Shawano Speedway.  Terry Anvelink, Dave Fieber, and Johnny Whitman picked up their first wins of the year.  While Brad Rohloff and Rod Snellenberger each won their third feature of the year.

 Terry Anvelink took advantage of early cautions in the Wissota Late Model feature race to grab the lead on the first official lap of the race.  Craig Bartz followed Anvelink into the second spot.  By lap three, Tim Buhler had moved into second, after starting in seventh.  Anvelink was already out to a sizeable lead in the race when his son, Nick, made the pass on Buhler to move into second on lap twelve.  Nick began to slowly reel in his father as the laps wound down, but Terry was too tough.  It was the first win on the year for the seven time track champion who will be inducted into the tracks Hall of Fame later this year.  Nick Anvelink finished in second, Buhler was third,  Twelfth place starter, Ron Berna, finished in fourth.  Mark Mitchell finished fifth after having to pit early in the race.

 Pole sitter, Dan Wanta, took the lead on lap one of the Fastrak Late Model feature.  His stay at front would be short lived though, as Dave Fieber took over on lap two.  Fieber set a torrid pace in the race and quickly ran away from the rest of the field.  Jeff Curtin, Joe Reuter, and AJ Diemel were left to battle for second.  In the end It was Fieber winning his first feature of the year in front of Diemel, Reuter, Curtin, and Joel Bennett.

 Early on in the IMCA Modified feature race Jason Czarapata and Marcus Yarie had a great duel going at the front of the field.  On lap eleven, with Czarapata in the lead, Rohloff passed Yarie to move to second in the race.  Then on lap fifteen Rohloff used the outside line to pass Czarapata for the lead.  Rohloff led the rest of the way to win his third feature race of the year.  Czarapata held on to finish in second.  Mike Mullen finished third in a borrowed car after wrecking his machine last week.  Lance Arneson moved up from his fourteenth place starting position to finish fourth.  Rookie Marcus Yarie held on to finish fifth.

 Greg Gutt led lap one of the IMCA Stock Car feature before giving way to Rod Snellenberger on lap two.  Dan Michonski motored around Snellenberger for the lead on lap five.  Two laps later Snellenberger returned the favor and took back the lead.  Snellenberger held off Michonski and Junior Karcz to win his third feature of the year.  Shawn Wagner crossed the line in fourth, but was disqaulified in post race inspection for an illegal carburator. 

 Teenager Johnny Whitman took the lead in the IMCA Sport Modified feature on lap six from last weeks winner, Jason Guyette.  Whitman then had to fend off defending track champion, Tim Jorgenson, to pick up his first win at the track.  Jorgenson, Tracy Wassenberg, Matt Oreskovich, and Travis VanStraten rounded out the top five.
